The Ohmie Lamp blends sustainability and style in a way that's both fun and functional. What else could we do to follow in their footsteps?
Once upon a time, materials we’d now call “sustainable” weren’t just an option—they were the option. Think about it: clay pots, glass bottles, linen clothes. For centuries, everyday items were crafted from materials that came straight from nature and, when their time was up, went right back to it. They’d simply break down, leaving barely a trace behind.
Fast forward to today, and sustainable choices feel more like a comeback tour than the norm. Plastics and synthetic materials took over for their convenience, but they left us with a serious waste problem (we'll discuss this further soon). Now, we’re looking to the past for solutions to the future, with innovations that remind us of simpler, earth-friendly times—like that fully compostable Ohmie lamp, made from orange peels.
It’s a full-circle moment: by blending modern tech with the wisdom of traditional materials, we’re giving “waste” a new purpose and creating products that don’t just disappear into a landfill but reintegrate with nature. The challenge is getting back to a mindset where sustainability isn’t an alternative but the standard once more.
A digital model of your object using 3D modeling software. This is where it starts to come to life.
The digital model is converted into layers using a slicing software, preparing it for printing.
The 3D printer builds the object layer by layer, following the sliced design until it is complete!

I’m Andrew, and I’m the one who brought this website to life. My job was all about transforming our ideas into a website that’s easy to explore and fun to use. Every click and scroll was crafted with care to make this project as engaging as possible.

I’m Sofia, and I’m the one behind the words on our website. My role was all about crafting content that feels inviting, informative, and a little bit fun—just like our team. I wanted to make sure each page spoke clearly about why sustainability matters and the changes we can all make as individuals.

I’m the illustrator and motion artist behind the visuals here. From creating eye-catching illustrations to adding movement and life with animations, I aimed to make the site’s story vibrant and engaging.

As the prototyper and brand designer, I worked to shape the look and feel of the brand, creating a design that’s both functional and visually cohesive. From paper wireframes to interactive prototype, I made sure each part of the site felt true to our vision, keeping everything sleek and user-friendly.
